Middle East peace - the real story...NOT
Emir Feisal I (right) and Chaim Weizmann (also wearing Arab dress as a sign of friendship) in Syria. At this time Feisal was living in Syria not Iraq.
The PROPAGANDA website Avaaz feeding misinformation to students, asking them to be part of testing NEWS BLACKOUTS* in oppressive countries like Syria, Libya and Egypt. Pro-Palestinian hogwash**!
*
"While the black-out on the Internet intensifies Egypt, Avaaz and its partners have worked to send material receiving satellite internet organizers on site. Now, Bahrain and Libya are trying to implement their own crackdown on internet - and we have the ability to provide decisive support to derail the blackout. Communications equipment and technical support teams will help the organizers to disseminate information to local rallies, get in touch with other activists in the region, and provide information to the world in case of power. All this will provide a vital counterbalance against the propaganda of the regimes in place, and a form of protection to the demonstrators who will benefit from more media coverage and attention."
**
"In days, the UN Security Council will meet again to discuss whether Palestine should become a new state**. But key countries are still unsure how to vote.
Our campaign for Palestinian independence is on fire, and our voices are reaching leaders. But we need to ramp up the pressure and many people don't feel they understand the situation well enough to take action. Avaaz has made a short new video that tells the real story of the conflict."

The Palestinian Authority's end-run action at the UN is designed to avoid legal negotiations with the already sovereign State of Israel. San Remo-based International law stands firmly on the side of Israel and against any Palestinian Authority or UN declarations.
On April 25th, 1920 the Supreme Council of Allied Powers met in San Remo, Italy to decide the future boundaries of the Middle East. Although none of the overall boundaries have been altered since then, many false arguments have arisen in opposition to these firmly established precedents.
The 1920 decision of the Supreme Council of the Principal Allied Powers, Britain, France, Japan, Italy (with the US not present but in full agreement) is legally binding to this day.
In light of the looming unilateral declaration of Palestinian Statehood before the United Nations General Assembly next month in New York, the 1920 San Remo Conference must be fully taken into account.
"[T]hat recognition of our rights in Palestine is embodied in the treaty with Turkey; and has become part of international law. This is the most momentous political event in the whole history of our movement, and it is perhaps, no exaggeration to say in the whole history of our people since the Exile. [The decision of the Supreme Council of the Principal Allied Powers] crowns the British declaration by enacting it as part of the law of nations of the world."

"Meanwhile, the Facebook generation is increasingly taking a lead in the Palestinian arena, at times sidelining political veterans stuck to more traditional ways.
"There is a new energy, a new dynamism," said Hanan Ashrawi, a former Palestinian negotiator. "The Palestinians feel they have put themselves on the map again."
Sunday's marches occurred on the day Palestinians mourn Israel's 1948 creation, when hundreds of thousands of their people were uprooted and scattered throughout the region.
Marking the anniversary, called the "nakba," Arabic for "catastrophe," Palestinian organizers bused hundreds to Lebanon's border with Israel and to the Syrian frontier in the Israeli-held Golan Heights. Surprised and overwhelmed, Israeli troops fired to keep the crowds from breaching the borders. Four Palestinians were killed in the Golan and 10 in Lebanon, while a 15th was fatally shot as dozens rushed Israel's border wall with the Gaza Strip." (more)

"Obama ignoring the pleas of the youths of Cairo?"
A New York Times story published this weekend suggests one may have erupted already.
The paper reported that Obama was "seething" over State Department officials's statement suggesting that the administration did not want a quick transition of power in Egypt, with President Hosni Mubarak stepping down from his office immediately.
Obama felt that the State Department "made it look as if the administration were protecting a dictator and ignoring the pleas of the youths of Cairo."
As Secretary Clinton and her special envoy Frank Wisner repeatedly called for an orderly transition that would include President Mubarak remaining in office for at least a period of time, Obama and his team studiously sought to undermine the State Department stance.
The Times states that Mr. Obama "was furious" about Clinton's and Wisner's statements, "as Mr. Obama was demanding that change in Egypt begin right away."
Secretary Clinton was not the only figure who opposed Obama's view. Clinton was joined by Vice President Joe Biden and Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who also were advocating that Obama adhere to a cautious and more traditional foreign policy approach toward the situation in Egypt.
Unhappy about the mixed signals high-ranking officials were giving, Obama intervened directly, telling White House advisers that "this was not the message we should be delivering.”
According to the Times, the Obama White House even recruited Democratic Sen. John Kerry to appear on "Meet the Press" last Sunday to contradict Wisner's statements that reflected Secretary Clinton's views. Wisner’s comments “just don’t reflect where the administration has been from day one,” Kerry said on the program.
